What I love about survivor
Some of you may know that I have a serious addiction and it’s called Survivor! I love this show for so many reasons! Granted, when my partner suggested we watch it together, I was highly skeptical because most reality television (and most television besides straight up comedies) is not my cup of tea. But, I remained open and then I started seeing all of the amazing things about it and it is now one of my go to distractions when I want to zone out or get out of my crappy thoughts, or zone into the awesomeness of this show. As winter is upon us and you may have some binge watching to do, you too may want to embark on your own Survivor journey-theres are 34 1/2 Seasons on CBS on demand so you will be occupied and entertained!
Here is what I love about Survivor:
- Watching the evolution of the game over time (yes I use the super fangirl terms all the way!) Since season one, the game has changed. The producers and host Jeff Probst, always keep it full of twists and turns and they see what works and what doesn’t work. This helps me know that evolution over time is natural and positive and that I don’t have to be perfect straight out of the gate.
- The evolution of the people in the game: Survivor likes to bring previous players back for more tries at the million bucks. There have been so many players who haven’t won their first, second, or third times playing but they keep coming back and learn from their mistakes and then sometimes they win! I love when people come back and win! It reminds me that no matter what mistakes I have made, I can always improve and win!
- Jeff Probst: I love Jeff Probst! He tells it like it is with such accuracy and does not allow the players to ruffle his feathers. Jeff always provides words of wisdom to the players, calls out bullshit, and gives players chances at redeeming themselves if they have behaved badly. He has evolved into such an engaging host over time and this also lets me know that I can keep growing and changing and evolve in my own career.
- Survivor has been called the greatest Social experiment ever created. I love to watch how people respond to each other. When people are bullies most players feel like they have to listen to them or they allow them to control their feelings and moods. The players who are playing offensively, meaning they are in full control of how they are playing the game and do not allow others to throw them off or intimidate them have a much better chance. Being someone who is easily thrown off by others and who usually plays “defense”, I learn a lot about how these players exude confidence and can keep the eye on the prize.
- You Can see how law of attraction and people’s vibrations play out. Most people who win see themselves winning and play to win! They don’t take it personally or go into a shame spiral when they think they will be voted out-they strategize and try to “get the numbers” back on their side. This allows me to realize that if I want to succeed in my chosen path that I need to keep my eye on the prize, play to win and not take things personally!
- I love observing and learning from the confident women on the show. I love seeing the confident women on the show-they are such great role models for those of us who have not had those confident female role models. There are a number of players who have amazing athleticism, intelligence, social skills, and are confident in their sexuality. My favorite female players are Parvati Shallow, Cirie Fields, Aubrey Bracco, and Taj Johnson-George
